Encounters
While traveling, encounters with locals are the extras of all the experience. Quite often a short talk with someone develops into a lifetime friendship. Sometimes one wishes that we Europeans could acquire some of the cordiality and hospitality many of the Latin Americans and North Americans have. But from all the encounters what remains for ever are the positive and wonderful memories.
And negative experiences? No, during the seven years on the American continent and the two years in Asia and Australia we had only two encounters which we had wished to end more positive. One was with a Swiss woman and the other with a German man.
